Polyline Industries' range of Polyethylene (Poly or PE) boats are great alternatives to aluminium commercial work boats. As we specialise in poly fabrication we have proved it to be a cost-effective material for commercial boats for purposes of Fast Response, Search & Rescue, Patrol, Maintenance and Research.

Features & Benefits of Polyline’s Commercial Boats


  • Lightweight

Vessels built of PE can be three times as thick as aluminium for the same weight or built much thinner and lighter.

Being lightweight means the boat is considered positive in the water as it naturally floats.

 

  • Strong & Non-Corrosive

Polyethylene (PE) is inert which means the molecular structure is full, and therefore will not rust or corrode and does not suffer from electrolysis.

 

  • Performance

PE has a low friction co-efficient (0.02) which results in less drag, making for better performance and fuel efficiency.

PE is relatively light with an S.G. of 0.92, approx a third of the weight of aluminium (S.G. 2.7) meaning it has positive buoyancy.

 

  • Impact Resistant

As polymers are long chain molecules they give plastics a memory resulting in high impact resistance unlike metals or glass which have crystalline type structures that dent or fracture.

PE will also not scratch or damage other vessels or infrastructure.

 

  • Low Maintenance

Vessels constructed of PE do not require coating or painting.

They are low maintenance as the PE is inert and therefore has no porosity ensuring that marine growth cannot penetrate the polymer.

Although marine organisms like to grow on polymer they cannot effectively attach or penetrate making them easy to remove and therefore anti-foul is not required.

 

  • Durable / Long Life

Polyethylene is UV Stable ensuring a long working life.

PolyRIB 6300

This vessel was customised for Vermillion Oil & Gas to suit their specific requirements for a Work Response Craft at Wandoo B (75km offshore from Dampier). It was designed to be suspended under the oil platform to enable crew to board and launch within a minimal time frame.

Polyline's PolyRIB 6300 has been internationally recognised by Ausmarine and Work Boat World:

 

•   In Ausmarine's article our client was quoted saying that their POLYRIB "has proved to be a quality vessel that performs all duties and tasks better than expected" followed by "Vermillion Oil and Gas Australia would have no reservations in recommending Polyline to any company wishing to pursue a development project with their organisation".

 

•   The PolyRIB 6300 was also named in the Top 20 Vessels of 2009 by Work Boat World. The POLYRIB 6600 is an advanced Work Response Craft (WRC) and has all the features of a small line boat. It incorporates Fast Rescue Capabilities (FRC) and is built to USL DPI specifications.

The POLYRIB WRC comes with a centre console, Heinrieksen quick release hook, is Platform Ready and includes all safety equipment including close-able vents and fire suppression system.

It is Powered by a 200HP 4LHDTP Yanmar Turbo Diesel coupled to a 241 Hamilton Jet via ZF63 1:1.25 gearbox. The engine is fitted with a Rollover Kit, (mercury cut of switch), which in the event of a rollover will shut the engine down to avoid damage.

This vessel is also fitted with a self-righting wing which would effectively prevent a rollover, but in the event of a rollover would self-right itself.

This vessel is a robust workhorse designed by Steve Bruyn and built by Polyline Industries. The design is simple yet effective for poly built boats. They feature a big anchor bin in the bow, extra storage under the bow beat, and large side pockets for gas bottles (up to G size). There are a number of lockers across the transom, a shade over the main deck area, and built-in twin fuel and freshwater tanks.

At 10.2m the sister ships Piparn & Yikara were custom built for Go Marine. They are the largest Polyethylene boats ever built.

Polyline Industries also attained the highest level of Survey for a plastic boat in Australia.
